All illegal buildings in Karen State demolished

It has been learned from a statement released on July 26 that all illegal buildings in the Shwe Kokko area and KK Park area of Myawaddy Township, Karen State, which were used as bases for online scams and gambling, have been completely demolished. The demolition and destruction of illegal buildings, as well as the systematic destruction of materials used in their operation, are being carried out by a joint team of relevant government departments. It is reported that on July 26, the last remaining illegal building in the Shwe Kokko area, a 17-story building, was systematically demolished by explosion. Of the 77 buildings in the Shwe Kokko area used for online scam and gambling operations, 57 were designated for demolition by vehicles and heavy machinery, and 20 for demolition by explosion, and they were systematically demolished according to their type. The joint team of relevant government departments began the demolition and destruction of the 77 illegal buildings used for online scam and gambling operations on May 25, 2026, and completed the demolition and destruction by 100% on July 26. The national government has taken the eradication of online scam and gambling activities as a national responsibility and will continue to work in coordination with neighboring governments, in addition to domestic forces, to ensure that such activities cannot establish any base within Myanmar.
