PHNOM PENH, Aug 8, 2026 (KPT) – US Pacific Fleet commander Admiral Steve Koehler visited Cambodia’s Ream Naval Base on Saturday, underscoring growing defense cooperation between the two countries. Koehler toured the base alongside US Chargé d’Affaires Aleks Zittle and Cambodian Rear Admiral Mey Dina, the Pacific Fleet said. The visit focused on direct communication and practical cooperation between the US and Cambodian armed forces. Washington pledged to continue strengthening military‑to‑military engagement with Phnom Penh to support regional peace, security and prosperity. The trip comes as the two nations seek to deepen defence ties and expand cooperation between their armed forces.
