Prabowo Meets Potential Central Bank Governors

President Prabowo Subianto has scheduled meetings with several potential candidates for the next Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI), confirmed State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi. According to Prasetyo, the President has already met with several candidates for discussions. However, he declined to reveal the specific names of those called. "Yes. Yes, there are. They have already been summoned," Prasetyo stated at the Presidential Palace complex in Central Jakarta on Friday (07/08/2026). Prasetyo also confirmed that Destry Damayanti is being considered by President Prabowo Subianto as a candidate for the Governor of Bank Indonesia. "If the question is whether Mrs. Destry is one of those being considered or among the names discussed, yes, we can say that she is definitely one of those being discussed," Prasetyo said. When asked if former Chairman of the OJK's Board of Commissioners, Muliaman Hadad, is also on the shortlist for the BI Governor position, Prasetyo neither confirmed nor denied, only stating that many names are under consideration. "There are several names, many. Many," Prasetyo said. The term for the Governor of Bank Indonesia is five years, with the current Governor, Perry Warjiyo, completing his term in May 2024.
