Agriculture Minister Inaugurates Rong Pao Water Gate Project in Chiang Rai
Thailand's Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives visited Chiang Rai to inaugurate the Rong Pao Water Gate project, aimed at improving agricultural water supply in the region.
CHIANG RAI – On July 6, 2026, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Suriya Juangroongruangkit visited Chiang Rai province for an on-site inspection of the Rong Pao Water Gate project. He was accompanied by Minister of Labour Jullapan Amornvivat and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Piyarat Tiyapirach. The inspection took place at the Siriwat Building in Pa Ngae Subdistrict, Pa Daet District. Chiang Rai Governor Chucheep Pongchai, along with local officials, community leaders, and stakeholders, were present. The Rong Pao Water Gate project is designed to ensure a stable and managed supply of agricultural water in Chiang Rai. The initiative aims to modernize and enhance the efficiency of the irrigation system, thereby contributing to increased agricultural productivity in the region. The Thai government prioritizes the sustainable development of its agricultural sector, and such infrastructure development is seen as crucial for stabilizing farmer incomes and strengthening food security.
