Five killed in Myanmar junta airstrikes in retaliation for attack by PDF forces

Following a resistance attack on a pharmaceutical factory-turned junta base, regime airstrikes have killed five and displaced thousands in Magway’s Pakokku Township. The junta forces launched airstrikes around 10 a.m. on January 26 in Mingon village, Pakokku Township, in retaliation for the resistance attack. Five villagers in Mingon village were reportedly killed and at least 10 others were injured in the airstrikes. The airstrikes are believed to have targeted the pharmaceutical factory in Mingon village, which had been occupied by resistance forces and used as a military base. However, the attack resulted in civilian casualties. Thousands of residents from Mingon village and surrounding areas have been forced to flee their homes due to the airstrikes. The displaced people are reportedly facing shortages of food and water, and difficulties in accessing medical care. The Myanmar military has been accused of frequently using excessive force in response to attacks by resistance forces, causing immense harm to civilians. The recent airstrikes are pointed out as another example of this.
