Dutch Firms Optimistic on Vietnam Investment, Eyeing Key Sectors

Dutch businesses have welcomed Vietnam's reform agenda and expressed strong interest in expanding collaboration in finance and international financial services, semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), logistics, ports, shipbuilding, water management, renewable energy, and green transition. Vietnam's leadership is calling for a fundamental shift from "simple labor" to "creative labor" as a core objective for the nation's next development phase, as outlined in Politburo's Resolution No. 57. Party General Secretary and State President To Lam has stressed the importance of translating all resolutions into practical, accountable action programs tailored to each ministry, sector, and locality. With nearly four decades of economic reforms, Vietnam has become a highly open economy with deep regional and global integration. Foreign direct investment (FDI) has played a pivotal role, with cumulative registered capital nearing $550 billion and over 46,000 active projects, significantly contributing to the country's remarkable development. Furthermore, Vietnam is actively expanding its network of "Creative Cities." The country aims to establish its first City of Photography as early as 2027, building on the success of Hanoi (Design), Hoi An (Crafts and Folk Art), Da Lat (Music), and Ho Chi Minh City (Film), which have already been recognized by UNESCO's Creative Cities Network. As Vietnam celebrates 30 years as a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), it continues to make proactive contributions to maintaining regional peace and stability, promoting prosperity, advancing regional integration, and building the ASEAN Community. The nation is deepening its international cooperation while advancing domestic economic development and structural reforms.
