Cambodian Prime Minister and Spouse Donate Fuel for Ferry Services Benefiting Locals and Students

Prime Minister Hun Manet and his spouse have donated 1,200 liters of fuel to support the operation of two ferry boats in Sandan District, Kampong Thom Province, facilitating the transportation of residents and students. This initiative is part of the government's efforts to ensure safe passage across the Sen River. The fuel donation was handed over by Major General Som Sun, Commander of the Kampong Thom Military Operations Zone and Deputy Head of the Government Working Group for Local Development in Sandan District. The two ferry boats, one serving Mien Chey and Khleng communes and another serving Dang Kambet commune, were previously donated by the Prime Minister and his spouse during the 2025 rainy season to replace unsafe small boats and speedboats for river crossings. Major General Som Sun stated that 700 liters of fuel have been allocated for Mien Chey and Khleng communes, and 500 liters for Dang Kambet commune, to be used during August 2026. He also assured that fuel supplies for September and October would be addressed subsequently. He urged local authorities and ferry operators to maintain the equipment and use the fuel responsibly for the safe transport of the public. On behalf of the residents of Mien Chey, Khleng, and Dang Kambet communes, Mrs. Lak Souchan, Deputy Governor of Sandan District, expressed profound gratitude to Prime Minister Hun Manet and his spouse, Lieutenant General Mao Sophoan, Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army and Head of the Government Working Group for Sandan District, Lieutenant General Noun Pharat, Governor of Kampong Province, and Major General Som Sun for their continuous efforts in resolving the difficulties faced by the people in Sandan District. This act of support underscores the Cambodian government's commitment to improving local infrastructure and public welfare, particularly in ensuring access to education and daily life for citizens in remote areas. While not directly linked to China relations in this report, such infrastructure and community support contribute to national stability and development, indirectly strengthening Cambodia's position in its broader international engagements.
