Vietnam's Top Leader Meets Pfizer, Vows Continued Cooperation

Vietnamese Party General Secretary and President To Lam met with representatives from leading pharmaceutical company Pfizer and Vietnam Vaccine and Biological Products Company (VNVC) during his visit to the US, affirming the importance of their cooperation in improving the health and quality of life of Vietnamese people. During the meetings, Pfizer and VNVC expressed pride in their longstanding cooperation and their wish to continue discussions and explore further opportunities to protect and improve public health. This reflects Vietnam's emphasis on international partnerships in public health and its active efforts to strengthen domestic healthcare infrastructure and enhance national well-being. While in New York, General Secretary and President To Lam also held meetings with the Presidents of Timor-Leste, Switzerland, and Finland. He presented suggestions on managing global change at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) and highlighted the strengthening of Vietnam-US relations in a policy speech at the Foreign Policy Association. These engagements are seen as part of Vietnam's diplomatic strategy to deepen international cooperation, with the enhancement of public health and welfare as a crucial pillar of national development, alongside its continued economic growth. The strengthening of relations with the US, in particular, holds strategic significance for Vietnam in deepening collaboration across various sectors including economy, technology, and public health. Within Vietnam's one-party system, top-level decisions significantly influence policy, making these high-level meetings crucial for determining future cooperation directions.
