Human Trafficking Ring Dismantled in Phnom Penh, 7 Victims Rescued

Authorities in Phnom Penh have dismantled two massage parlors suspected of human trafficking in the Por Senchey district, rescuing seven victims, including four minors. The operation, conducted on September 10th under the direction of Deputy Commissioner General Choun Narinth of the Phnom Penh Municipal Police, was led by Deputy Commissioner Chan Kitykhom, who oversees anti-human trafficking and child protection, and Deputy Commissioner Cheng Sarath. With cooperation from the Por Senchey district administration and Deputy Prosecutor Sat Tita of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, specialized units inspected two unnamed massage establishments located on concrete roads in Tang Koun 1 village, Kakap 1 commune. The first location, an unnamed massage parlor at house number 73C, yielded six individuals (all female, including three minors) and the female owner of the establishment. The second location, at house number 86C on the same street, found three individuals (two female, including one minor) and the male owner. Specialized forces are currently preparing to send the two establishment owners, one female and one male, to court for legal proceedings. The seven female victims, including four minors, have been handed over to the Phnom Penh Municipal Department of Social Affairs for further care and procedures. This operation highlights the ongoing efforts by Cambodian authorities to combat human trafficking, particularly concerning the exploitation of minors.
