Cambodia: Man Dies in Flash Flood, Exposing Infrastructure Vulnerabilities

A tragic accident occurred in Ouswis village, Oukadiel Sen Chey commune, Ouskhrien Sen Chey district, Kratie province, on July 29, 2026, around 12:30 PM. A car driving across a stream was caught in a flash flood and plunged from a bridge, resulting in the death of one occupant. The victim has been identified as Chey Kosal, a 43-year-old male residing in Tonle Chom village, Baray district, Kampong Thom province. Following the incident, authorities, including specialized police officers under the command of the Kratie Provincial Police Commissioner, collaborated with local officials. They responded to the scene to recover the victim and salvage the vehicle from the stream. The body was subsequently handed over to the family for traditional funeral rites.
