Martyred Police Officer Awarded 'Nation's Merit' Title, Support Extended to Family
In Vietnam's Khánh Hòa Province, the Prime Minister posthumously awarded the title 'Nation's Merit' to Major Nguyễn Xuân Hải, who died while pursuing illegal sand miners. The provincial police also hired his widow as an officer, demonstrating support for the bereaved family.
On the afternoon of July 27, the Khánh Hòa Provincial Police collaborated with the People's Committee of Diên Khánh commune to organize a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's Decision and present the 'Nation's Merit' certificate to the family of martyr Major Nguyễn Xuân Hải, an officer of Diên Lâm Commune Police. At the ceremony, a representative from the Khánh Hòa Provincial Police announced Decision No. 1402/QĐ-TTg dated July 26, 2026, by the Prime Minister, regarding the awarding of the 'Nation's Merit' certificate to martyr Nguyễn Xuân Hải. Acting on behalf of the Prime Minister, Major General Nguyễn Hữu Phước, Director of the Khánh Hòa Provincial Police, presented the 'Nation's Merit' certificate to the martyr's next of kin. Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Nguyễn Hữu Phước expressed his profound grief over the sacrifice of martyr Nguyễn Xuân Hải. He affirmed that Comrade Hải's sacrifice is a shining example of political steadfastness, responsibility, courage, and dedication of a People's Police officer. The Prime Minister's decision to award the 'Nation's Merit' certificate to martyr Major Nguyễn Xuân Hải, precisely on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Fallen Heroes, is a recognition and tribute from the Party and the State for his noble sacrifice for the cause of national security protection and ensuring social order and safety. Martyr Nguyễn Xuân Hải, born in 1993, was a police officer of Diên Lâm Commune Police, Khánh Hòa Province. He bravely died in the line of duty while pursuing suspects involved in illegal sand mining on the Cái River, in the area of Diên Lâm commune, in the early morning of March 21, 2026. Recognizing Comrade Hải's sacrifice and contributions, on June 3, 2026, the Khánh Hòa Provincial Police Department provisionally recruited Ms. Lê Thị Thùy Hân, Comrade Nguyễn Xuân Hải's wife, into the People's Police force. This provisional recruitment demonstrates the care and solidarity of the Khánh Hòa Provincial Police Department towards the families of officers and soldiers who have heroically sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. It also contributes to the effective implementation of rear-area policies for the People's Police, encouraging families to overcome their loss and continue to uphold the tradition of contribution.
