Cambodia's National Bank and Harvard University Enhance Cooperation in Economy and Finance
Governor Chea Serey of the National Bank of Cambodia met with representatives from the Harvard Growth Lab, accompanied by the Australian Ambassador, to strengthen joint research on Cambodia's economic development, financial sector evolution, and new financial product/service development. Discussions also covered economic progress and emerging challenges in the financial sector.
On August 4, 2026, Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, held a working meeting with a delegation from Australia led by H.E. Derek Yip, Australian Ambassador to Cambodia, accompanied by Professor Ricardo Hausmann, Director of the Harvard Growth Lab and Professor of Economics at the Harvard Kennedy School. The meeting took place at the National Bank of Cambodia's Wat Phnom building. The meeting aimed to strengthen joint research cooperation between the National Bank of Cambodia and the Harvard Growth Lab on key topics including Cambodia's economic development, the evolution of the banking and financial sector, and the development of new financial products and services in line with the trends and demands of the financial sector. During the meeting, Governor Chea Serey and Professor Hausmann discussed Cambodia's economic progress, the evolution of its financial sector, and the new challenges currently facing the sector.
