Prabowo Orders Audit of State Firm Danantara Amidst Reported 400% Revenue Surge

President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia has ordered an audit of the state-owned company Danantara after receiving reports that its revenue has surged by approximately 400 percent in one year. While acknowledging the significant growth as a potential government achievement, the President stressed the need for rigorous verification of the figures. Speaking at the 50th anniversary of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, in Jakarta, Prabowo stated, "In one year of operating Danantara, I have received reports that the revenue, income from Danantara has increased by 400 percent, approximately." However, the President did not immediately accept the reported figure as final. "This must continue to be audited, we must check it," he urged, emphasizing a cautious approach. He added that even if the final figure does not reach 400 percent, a growth of 300 percent or 200 percent would still be considered significant. Prabowo did not elaborate on the basis for calculating the revenue increase, the comparison period, or the specific components of the income during his speech. He presented Danantara's achievements as one of the visible results of the government's efforts. In addition to Danantara's performance, Prabowo highlighted other government accomplishments, including progress in food self-sufficiency, energy management, bridge construction, and school improvements. He noted that the government is nearing the completion of 2,500 bridges in villages and aims to repair over 70,000 schools by the end of the year, with a target of 100,000 schools the following year. The President reiterated that these achievements must be examined based on actual results, not just reports. He concluded by expressing his determination to improve the cabinet's performance and address the unmet needs of the community within the remaining time.
