Thailand Expands Online Land Registration Nationwide as Part of Digital Government Push

The Thai government is accelerating its digital government initiatives by establishing an online system for land rights and transaction registration services at all land offices nationwide. This initiative covers 462 land offices across all 77 provinces, with 17 land offices in Bangkok becoming fully digitized. According to the government spokesperson, the administration prioritizes leveraging technology to solve problems and create benefits for citizens and businesses. Key aspects include reducing unnecessary procedures, enhancing inter-agency data linkage, and designing services based on public and business needs. This aims to eliminate complexities such as duplicate document submissions and multiple agency contacts, thereby enabling faster access to public services. The Department of Lands under the Ministry of Interior is driving this digital government policy, implementing cross-provincial online registration services on a national scale. Land offices in Bangkok will enable officials, authorized registrars, applicants, contracting parties, and witnesses to use an electronic signature system, boosting operational efficiency, promoting paperless processes, and delivering faster, more transparent, and secure services. Citizens will be able to apply for registration at any land office convenient to them, regardless of where the land is located. This is intended to reduce travel burdens, time, and costs associated with administrative procedures. Applications can be submitted via the "e-QLands Plus" application, available on iOS and Android, by selecting the "Book an appointment for cross-provincial online registration" menu. However, this service is limited to registrations that do not require public announcements or surveys and for which land title deeds are available.
