Memorial Ceremony : Dhamma assembly to be held ahead of the Final Rites

Venerable Bhaddanta Janakābhivaṃsa, the Presiding Sayadaw of Chanmyay Yeiktha Monastery, recipient of the titles Abhidhaja Agga Mahā Saddhamma Jotika and Agga Mahā Kammaṭṭhānācariya, and a State Ovadācariya, passed away at 11:03 a.m. on 19 September at the age of 99 (Vassa 79), according to a statement issued by the Department of Religious Affairs. Born on 24 July 1928, the venerable Chanmyay Sayadaw spent his entire life teaching Vipassana meditation and engaging continuously in religious activities based on the teachings of the Buddha. The venerable Sayadaw travelled not only throughout Myanmar but also to various countries abroad to deliver Dhamma talks. He guided his disciples and lay devotees in following the proper path of Dhamma practice. A Dhamma assembly will be held in advance of the final cremation and memorial ceremony for the late Venerable Sayadaw, starting September 20 through 24. Venerable Sayadaws will administer religious sermons starting 7:00 pm daily.
