Two armed drug suspects were arrested in General Mariano Alvarez (GMA), Cavite, on Tuesday night after they allegedly fired at police during a buy-bust operation. The Calabarzon police reported on Wednesday that the suspects, identified only by their aliases “Biboy” and “Reca,” apparently realized they were dealing with undercover officers during a transaction in Barangay F. De Castro around 8:15 p.m. They reportedly fled in their vehicle while firing their handguns at the pursuing police officers. A brief chase ensued, leading to the interception of the suspects. No injuries were reported on either side during the exchange of gunfire. Recovered from the suspects were a Beretta 9mm pistol loaded with four live rounds and one spent casing, a .38 caliber revolver with five live rounds and one spent casing, suspected shabu (crystal meth) valued at approximately P34,000, and dried marijuana leaves worth about P1,800. The police also confiscated the suspects' getaway car, which they believe was also used in their illegal drug business.
