Ayeyarwaddy Times September 19 Chanmyay Sayadaw Ashin Janakabhivamsa, who strived to spread Buddhism worldwide, passed away at the age of 99 on September 19th at Grand Hantha Hospital in Yangon, as announced by the Chanmyay Yeiktha administrative committee. The detailed schedule for the Sayadaw's final cremation ceremony will be announced later. The Sayadaw preached Dhamma based on the teachings of Lord Buddha both domestically and internationally, guided followers along the Dhamma path, and provided support with compassion, loving-kindness, and generosity. The Sayadaw traveled on missionary trips to approximately 20 countries, including Asia, Europe, and the Americas, and preached Dhamma. He established monasteries domestically and internationally, guided people in meditation techniques and sitting meditation methods, wrote books, and carried out missionary work.
