Vietnam Tourism Surges: Over 16 Million International Visitors in 8 Months, Asian Markets Lead, European and American Markets See Strong Growth

Vietnam's tourism industry continues to show strong signs of growth. In August alone, Vietnam welcomed approximately 2 million international visitors. This represents an increase of nearly 20% compared to the previous month and over 18% compared to the same period last year. For the first eight months of the year, Vietnam has already received nearly 16 million international visitors, an increase of 14.4% compared to the same period last year, and has achieved over 63% of its annual plan. Notably, despite August being considered the low season for international tourism, the number of visitors to Vietnam has remained at a high level. The Asian market continues to be the main source, while long-haul markets are also experiencing significant growth. Specifically, European visitors increased by over 53%, and visitors from the Americas increased by over 20%. This surge in tourist arrivals is expected to significantly contribute to Vietnam's economic recovery and growth. The Vietnamese government, operating under a one-party system, prioritizes economic development, with the tourism sector being a key pillar. The growth of tourism is also seen as a means to diversify economic ties, particularly amidst complex relations with China.
