Cambodia Warns of Inclement Weather Due to Low Pressure System

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology of Cambodia has issued a warning regarding changing weather conditions due to the influence of a low-pressure system. The ministry forecasts that heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds, will affect various provinces and the capital city from July 24 to 26. Specifically, the ministry announced on the morning of July 24 that the low-pressure system, which covers the Bay of Bengal, the Andaman Sea, the South China Sea, the Mekong River basin, and the Cambodian Sea, is impacting the southwest monsoon blowing over the Kingdom of Cambodia. Under these conditions, from July 24 to 26, the following is expected: 1. Plains Region: In provinces such as Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Pursat, Kampong Chhnang, Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, Kampong Cham, Tboung Khmum, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Takeo, Kandal, and the capital city of Phnom Penh, the average minimum temperature will be 25°C and the average maximum temperature will be 36°C. Winds will blow from the southwest and northwest at an average speed of 3 meters per second. These areas may experience rain with thunderstorms and strong winds covering 40% of their land. 2. Plateau Region: In provinces such as Kampong Speu, Pailin, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Kratie, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, the Dangrek Mountains, and the Cardamom Mountains, the average minimum temperature will be 24°C and the average maximum temperature will be 35°C. Winds will blow from the southwest and east at an average speed of 4 meters per second. These regions may experience rain with thunderstorms and strong winds covering 50% of their land. 3. Coastal Region: In provinces such as Koh Kong, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, Kep, and the Bokor Mountains, the average minimum temperature will be 25°C and the average maximum temperature will be 35°C. Winds will blow from the southwest and southeast at an average speed of 2 meters per second. These areas may experience rain with thunderstorms and strong winds covering 50% of their land.
