Cambodia Donates 'Angel House' to Elderly in Takeo, Equips with Solar Power and Clean Water
In Takeo province, Cambodia, a 70-year-old impoverished widow, So Sa'am, received a new home dubbed 'Angel House,' equipped with solar power and clean water facilities. The donation is part of a broader initiative to support vulnerable citizens, reflecting the government's commitment to public welfare.
A new residence, referred to as an 'Angel House,' was donated to So Sa'am, a 70-year-old widow living in Bussataphong village, Tram Kak commune, Tram Kak district, Takeo province, on the morning of Monday, June 29, 2026. The donation was presented by Madam Hun Mana, Director-General of Bayon Radio-Television. So Sa'am, a widow with five children, all of whom face financial hardship, currently lives with her four grandchildren. Her livelihood depends on activities such as cutting and selling straw and working as a paid laborer for mango harvesting. During the ceremony, Madam Hun Mana conveyed greetings and well wishes from Prime Minister Hun Sen and his wife, Bun Rany Hun Sen, as well as from Prime Minister Hun Manet and his wife, Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet. In addition to the house, a clean water system and solar lighting were installed for the beneficiary. Further donations from Prime Minister Hun Sen and Madam Bun Rany Hun Sen included 100 kilograms of rice, one case of canned fish, five cases of instant noodles, one case of condensed milk, cooking oil, menthol oil, a set of cooking utensils, plates, a small pot, a large pot, a frying pan, a serving spoon, a rice spoon, a soup spoon, spoons and forks, a kettle, five rice bowls, five soup bowls, 1 kilogram of tea, two pillows, two mosquito nets, two blankets, two sleeping mats, 5 kilograms of sugar, three bottles of soy sauce, an FM radio with two batteries, two pairs of shoes, five sets of toothpaste and toothbrushes, twelve small bars of soap, five small boxes of medicine, two sets of clothing, and 500,000 Cambodian Riel (approximately $125 USD). Additionally, a wheelchair was provided for a disabled individual. In parallel, 140 backpacks filled with educational materials, also a gift from Prime Minister Hun Sen and Madam Bun Rany Hun Sen, Prime Minister Hun Manet and Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet, were distributed to 140 students.
