Flooding and inundation occur in Yangon

In Yangon city, heavy rains on the night of July 28 caused flooding and inundation in several townships, and as of the morning of July 29, the water had not yet receded, according to some Yangon residents. Severe flooding and inundation occurred around the historic intersection in Yangon city, and it is reported that water entered the Tipitaka Maha Nikaya monastery in Dagon New Town (East) township. In some places, water entered homes and shops, forcing shops to close and remain shut, it is understood. The Directorate of Meteorology and Hydrology has announced that heavy rains are possible in most regions, including Naypyidaw and Yangon, and has issued a warning to take precautions against the dangers of landslides and flooding and inundation.
