Jakarta Prepares Traffic Diversions for Planned Protests

Jakarta Metropolitan Police are preparing traffic diversions and situational engineering in anticipation of protests scheduled in several locations across Jakarta on Thursday, September 24, 2026. The police will implement traffic management based on field conditions. Kombes Pol. Firman Darmansyah, Director of Traffic at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, stated that approximately 1,550 traffic personnel will be deployed to assist and facilitate public mobility. "Traffic diversions will be implemented if necessary based on field conditions. We urge the public who do not have business in the vicinity of the activity locations to consider alternative routes to ensure their journey remains comfortable and smooth," Firman said in a statement on Wednesday (23/9/2026). For those traveling from West Jakarta towards the Monas area, alternative routes include Jalan Tomang Raya, Jalan Suryopranoto, Harmoni, and then to Monas. From South Jakarta, the journey can be made via Jalan Tendean, Jalan HR Rasuna Said, Jalan HOS Cokroaminoto, Tugu Tani, and then towards Monas. For those coming from East Jakarta, users can pass through Jalan Jatinegara, Jalan Kramat Raya, Tugu Tani, and then to Monas. Meanwhile, for road users from the Semanggi Interchange heading to Slipi or Tomang, alternative routes can be taken via Jalan Sudirman, Bendungan Hilir, Pejompongan, and then Jalan Letjen S. Parman. From Jalan Gatot Subroto, the journey can be diverted through Jalan Gerbang Pemuda, Patal Senayan, Jalan Tentara Pelajar, and then to Jalan Letjen S. Parman. Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Kombes Pol. Budi Hermanto, advised the public to plan their journeys early, adjust their departure times, and monitor traffic developments before leaving. "Monitor the latest information through the TMC Polda Metro Jaya social media, use alternative routes if necessary, and follow the directions of officers in the field. Traffic management will be adjusted according to the developing situation to ensure public activities can continue safely and smoothly," he explained. Budi apologized to the public if the arrangements impacted mobility and emphasized that the measures are taken to ensure all public activities proceed smoothly and safely.
