Progressive groups protest in Cebu during Marcos' SONA
Progressive groups in Cebu City staged a protest coinciding with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s State of the Nation Address (SONA). They expressed dissatisfaction with the administration's performance, demanding attention to issues like contractualization, inflation, and corruption involving political allies.
Various progressive groups also held a protest in Cebu as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. delivers his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday afternoon, July 27. According to Super Radyo Cebu's Norman Mendoza, BAYAN Central Visayas said they would give the Marcos administration a failing mark. It added that they are not expecting Marcos to discuss later some issues like contractualization and inflation. BAYAN Central Visayas also called out Marcos for the corruption involving his political allies. In Metro Manila, protests are being staged at Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City. Only four groups were reportedly granted permits to stage rallies in the said area. Group KILUSAN also held a separate protest at Recto Avenue in Manila. On the other hand, transport group MANIBELA held another transport strike today but group president Mar Valbuena said they only wanted to listen to the President's SONA. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA News
