Cambodia Graduates Over 1,700 in Police and Prison Training

On July 20, 2026, a certificate awarding ceremony was held at the National Police Academy of Cambodia for 1,710 police and prison cadets (including 199 women) who completed 15 courses. His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Dr. Sar Sokha, presided over the event. Lieutenant General Professor Dr. Eik Monosen, President of the National Police Academy, presented a welcome speech and a summary report on the outcomes of the 15 training courses. The report indicated that 7 courses were completed at the Academy (538 graduates, including 43 women), 2 courses at the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship National Police School (189 graduates, including 0 women), and 6 courses at the Regional National Police Schools (983 graduates, including 176 women). Lieutenant General Professor Dr. Monosen affirmed that in line with the Ministry of Interior's strategic plan, the Academy has been actively implementing its core roles and responsibilities in the first half of the year under the visionary leadership of His Excellency Dr. Sar Sokha. The Academy is proceeding with its 5-year strategic plan, the transformation into a digital academy, a 5-year research and experimentation plan, a plan for developing police instructor capacity, and establishing digital officer standards. Progress includes enhancing capabilities in combating new technological crimes, opening a master's program in technological crime counter-measures, developing infrastructure and supporting materials, and continuously researching and producing foundational textbooks. His Excellency Dr. Sar Sokha expressed support and praise for the new achievements and ongoing developments at the Academy, as highlighted in the report by Lieutenant General Professor Dr. Eik Monosen. Furthermore, Dr. Sar Sokha announced that a forensic science laboratory, with a budget of 13.50 million US dollars, will soon be constructed with assistance from the government of the Republic of Korea through KOICA. This facility will be jointly used by the National Police Academy of Cambodia and the General Commissariat of National Police. His Excellency Dr. Sar Sokha reiterated the Ministry's strong commitment to rigorously implementing measures to prevent, deter, and suppress terrorism, combat terrorist financing, crack down on all types of transnational crimes, sabotage and seditious activities, fight drug offenses, combat all forms of human trafficking, illegal gambling, and prevent hooliganism. Measures have also been put in place to reduce traffic accidents and promote the effective implementation of the "Safe Village-Commune-District" policy, fostering public confidence. Specifically, following the firm and clear orders and decisions of His Excellency Prime Minister Hun Manet, the Ministry has launched a campaign with both "cold" and "hot" measures to crack down on and eradicate online scams that are currently threatening the entire nation. His Excellency Dr. Sar Sokha also commended the leadership of the Academy and the heads of all levels of units for effectively managing these 15 courses, all of which are crucial and responsive to the needs of the forces and the current security situation. He congratulated all the graduates who studied diligently, trained well, and adhered to discipline to achieve success and receive their certificates. His Excellency Dr. Sar Sokha offered advice to the graduating cadets, urging them to utilize the knowledge and skills acquired from their training for the benefit of their units in maintaining security, public order, and safety for the citizens. He emphasized the importance of adhering to professional ethics, demonstrating high responsibility in their work, respecting laws, human rights, and work discipline, following the directives of their superiors, and earning the satisfaction of their leadership through their work performance. His Excellency Dr. Sar Sokha had the honor of awarding ranks and presenting certificates to 32 representative graduates, and presented honorary swords to 6 representative outstanding graduates.
