Cambodia Officially Protests Thai Border Violations

The Cambodian government has officially expressed its protest to Thailand over the latter's continued violations of Cambodia's sovereignty and territorial integrity in border areas. This issue is understood to be rooted in delays in the border demarcation process between the two countries, with similar incidents reported in the past. The Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation conveyed specific concerns regarding Thai incursions into Cambodian territory and activities that infringe upon Cambodian sovereignty. While emphasizing its commitment to border stability and maintaining friendly relations, the government has also underscored its firm stance on protecting its territorial integrity. Cambodia and Thailand share a long border of approximately 2,200 kilometers, but the precise demarcation of certain sections remains incomplete. These undemarcated areas occasionally become a source of friction between residents of both countries and contribute to cross-border issues. Cambodia has urged Thailand to expedite the border demarcation process, and this protest is seen as part of that effort. As a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Cambodia prioritizes peace and stability within the region. However, it maintains a clear position that any infringement on its territorial integrity is unacceptable.
