Demand for Filipino VAs Surges, but Hiring Rate Remains Low at 0.2%

The Philippines, firmly established as one of the world's largest and most cost-competitive outsourcing hubs, continues to see a surge in demand for Filipino virtual assistants (VAs). This trend became even more pronounced in the second quarter of 2026, with demand for Filipino VAs more than doubling, according to the latest data from global recruitment agency VA Masters. In its "State of the Filipino Virtual Assistant Industry" report, the recruitment firm stated that new client signups climbed a record 110 percent between the first and second quarters of 2026. Beyond their technical skills and strong English proficiency, Filipino VAs are sought after for the country's reputation as a "reliable" base for remote workers. Businesses can also save up to 80 percent by hiring Filipino VAs compared to local recruitment in their home markets. "Modern companies are actively looking for simple, affordable ways to grow," said Alon Pearl, founder and CEO of VA Masters. "Business owners are searching for reliable remote workers rather than waiting for someone to pitch them." However, this boom presents a significant challenge for aspiring VAs. Of the 166,350 applications reviewed by VA Masters, only one in every 508 candidates landed a job, equating to a placement rate of just 0.2 percent. The recruitment firm described the sector as "one of the most selective talent pipelines." Approximately 80 percent of successful hires demonstrated fluent or native-level English proficiency, while 65 percent had at least three years of relevant work experience. Despite the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, the demand for Filipino VAs appears to be holding strong.
