Vietnamese Ethnic Minority Women Achieve Economic Independence and Cultural Promotion

Women from the Van Kieu ethnic minority in Ta Lao village, a border area in Quang Tri province, Vietnam, are achieving economic independence and improving their lives through the regional economic development program "Tiến về phía trước" (Moving Forward). The program encourages women to participate in new economic activities and contribute to community initiatives. Notably, promoting local culture via social media has become a crucial tool for them to escape poverty and lead better lives. As Vietnam seeks to transition from traditional economic models to sustainable development, support for ethnic minority communities is vital for overall regional growth. Quang Tri province is accelerating new approaches to foster economic development among ethnic minorities, particularly in border regions. This initiative can be seen as part of Vietnam's economic growth strategy under its one-party system, aiming to improve the livelihoods of diverse ethnic groups in rural areas. For the Vietnamese government, which pursues domestic economic stability and development while maintaining complex relations with China, such grassroots economic revitalization is a key factor for social stability.
