Dien Bien Province Aims to Complete Excavation and DNA Sampling of Martyrs' Remains by End of September 2026

Dien Bien Province in northwestern Vietnam is currently mobilizing its soldiers and relevant personnel with the goal of completing the excavation and DNA sampling of all martyrs' remains within the province by September 30, 2026. This endeavor reflects a strong determination to overcome all difficulties and successfully execute the campaign. Previously, Dien Bien Province announced the establishment of two infantry regiments directly under the Provincial Military Command. The province also organized a memorial and burial ceremony for the remains of martyrs found on Pha Din Pass. Furthermore, the renovation of the memorial site for Heroic Martyr Tran Van Tho has been completed. The Dien Bien Provincial Police are collecting biological samples from the relatives of martyrs. This initiative is a crucial undertaking aimed at identifying the remains of soldiers who perished in past conflicts, including the Vietnam War, and bringing solace to their families. Under Vietnam's one-party system, respect and remembrance for national heroes and fallen soldiers play a significant role in fostering national unity and patriotism. While Vietnam continues its economic growth, the memories of past wars remain deeply etched in the hearts of its people. Such remains collection activities serve as an opportunity to honor the nation's historical legacy and reaffirm the desire for peace.
