Vietnam Partners with Meta to Bolster SMEs with AI, Quantum Tech
Vietnam's Vietrade has signed a cooperation agreement with Meta to support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The initiative will leverage AI and quantum technology to enhance SME competitiveness and modernize operations, forming part of Vietnam's broader digital transformation efforts.
The Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) has signed a cooperation agreement with technology giant Meta to support the competitiveness and modernization of domestic Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Under the agreement, both parties will establish a joint task force with a strong focus on quantum technology and AI-powered solutions. Quantum technology is recognized as a strategic frontier in the digital age, while AI is expected to significantly contribute to enhancing SME productivity. Vietnam is noted as one of the most socially connected markets in the Asia-Pacific region, with high social media penetration. This partnership aims to accelerate SME digitalization, leveraging this digital infrastructure and the public's affinity for technology. The Vietnamese government has increasingly prioritized digital transformation as a key national strategy, actively developing related policies and technical standards. Notably, the rollout of 5G networks has been rapid, with over 40,000 base transceiver stations deployed, covering approximately 92% of the population, a pace significantly faster than many advanced economies. Ho Chi Minh City is focusing on talent development for the quantum computing era, aiming to establish itself as a hub for science, technology, and innovation. Furthermore, Vietnam seeks not only to enter the semiconductor industry but also to master high-value, knowledge-intensive segments of the value chain, which is expected to bolster competitiveness in AI and electronics. This collaboration with Meta represents a crucial step for Vietnam in accelerating its transition to a digital economy and enhancing its international competitiveness. The initiative is anticipated to lay the groundwork for SMEs, particularly in provincial areas, to leverage cutting-edge technologies and thrive in the global market.
