Cambodia to Launch Voter Registration, List Checks Ahead of 2027 Polls
Cambodia's National Election Committee (NEC) will conduct nationwide voter registration and list verification from October 1 to November 30, in preparation for the general election scheduled for June 6, 2027, a crucial step to ensure electoral integrity.
PHNOM PENH, Aug 3, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s National Election Committee (NEC) said Monday it will begin voter registration and verification from October 1 to November 30 nationwide, part of preparations for the general election set for June 6, 2027. The NEC said the exercise will be carried out at commune and sangkat offices, and in selected villages, to keep the voter roll accurate and up to date. Officials will remove names of those who have died, lost voting rights or moved, provided supporting documents are submitted. Eligible citizens not yet on the list may register, including those turning 18 by election day – meaning anyone born on or before June 7, 2009. Voters who have changed residence must register in their new commune or sangkat. The NEC said corrections to personal details can be requested with valid documents. Biometric data – photos and fingerprints – will also be updated for voters who registered in 2016 and 2017 but have not refreshed records. The committee urged citizens to prepare documents and verify their information during the two‑month period to ensure participation in the 2027 polls.
