Cambodia's Women Leaders Convene to Strengthen Networks and Foster Next Generation

Cambodia’s Minister of Women’s Affairs, Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi, joined leading women from business, government, and civil society at a high-level networking and leadership event hosted by Cambodia Leadership Review. The gathering brought together women featured in the recently launched "50 Khmer Women Voices 2026" magazine. The event aimed to strengthen connections among the featured women while fostering opportunities for leadership advice, professional collaboration, and community building. It was hosted by Kounila Keo, a Cambodian media and communications professional and an alumna of "50 Khmer Women Voices 2026". As guest of honor, Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi addressed the participants, highlighting the expanding participation of Cambodian women across the private sector, government, and civil society. She noted that women are increasingly taking on influential leadership and decision-making roles, contributing to the country’s economic and social development. However, the minister also acknowledged that more work is required to overcome barriers affecting women’s professional advancement and participation. She emphasized the importance of initiatives that bring women together, describing community building, professional connections, and mutual support as crucial steps towards overcoming these challenges. Her Excellency Minister further stressed that women's leadership is not merely a women's issue but a development imperative, an economic necessity, and a national priority for the ASEAN community. She asserted that women are needed as decision-makers, technology innovators, entrepreneurs, peacebuilders, and architects of the common future. To advance women's and young women's leadership, she outlined five key priorities: STEM, Financial, and Digital Literacy; Confidence and Self-Ownership; Mentorship, Sponsorship, and Solidarity; Institutional Reform; and Accountability and Gender-Disaggregated Data. Kim Tol Tan, founder and CEO of Grow4Growth Training and Development, a co-organizer of the magazine and event, stated that the relationships developed during the gathering could create valuable opportunities for the women involved. The organizers intend to build on this event by developing a wider community through which participants can remain connected, exchange advice, and support one another beyond the initial meeting. "50 Khmer Women Voices 2026" profiles 50 Cambodian women from diverse fields including business, entrepreneurship, government, education, development, and civil society, aiming to highlight their achievements, experiences, and leadership perspectives, thereby increasing the visibility of their contributions across the country. Each attendee received a printed copy of the magazine along with a special beauty gift provided by Revlon.
