Tuyen Quang Province Leverages Cultural Industries for New Growth Opportunities

Following its administrative merger, Tuyen Quang Province has become home to 46 ethnic groups, with ethnic minorities constituting over 70% of its population. The province boasts 794 historical and cultural relic sites and 871 intangible cultural heritage items, 53 of which are recognized as national intangible cultural heritage. Tuyen Quang Province is aiming to leverage these abundant cultural resources as a driving force for sustainable tourism development. In particular, the traditional cultures and lifestyles of its significant ethnic minority population hold the potential to offer unique tourist experiences, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy. Nationwide, Vietnam is also prioritizing the promotion of cultural industries as a national agenda, with efforts underway to strengthen cultural sovereignty in the digital space and enhance the cultural vitality of mountainous markets. Tuyen Quang's example could serve as a model for how regions can fully utilize their unique cultural capital to achieve both economic growth and cultural preservation. The provincial authorities are striving for sustainable regional development by advancing the preservation and utilization of cultural heritage alongside tourism promotion.
