Cambodian Defense Ministry Official Attends Religious Ceremony in Pursat, Vows to Protect Territorial Integrity

On July 1, 2026, General Teav Ving, Secretary of State of the Ministry of National Defense, and his wife, Mrs. Kan Chanthra Teav Ving, along with Mr. Mok Ra, Chairman of the Pursat Provincial Council, and Mrs. Ang Socheata Khoy Rida, Honorary President of the Cambodian Women's Association for Peace and Development in Pursat Province, attended a ceremony to pray for happiness and prosperity and to offer Vassa donations to four pagodas in Pursat province. The event also took place at the sacred site of Tep Uknhar Khling Muong and Madam Khan Khiev, located in Kampaeng Svay village, Snam Preah commune, Bakan district. During the occasion, the delegation presented Vassa donations and offerings to four pagodas: Kaev Vichay, Khngan, Koh Krasang, and Veal, as well as to the Tep Uknhar Khling Muong and Madam Khan Khiev memorial site. Each pagoda and site received one pair of Vassa candles, 100 kilograms of rice, 5 cases of soft drinks, 5 cases of purified water, 5 cases of instant noodles, 2 cases of canned fish, 1 case of cooking oil, 2 carongs of garlic, 1 bag of MSG, and 1.1 million Cambodian Riels (approximately $275 USD). In his address, General Teav Ving expressed his admiration for the efforts of the provincial leadership and the Buddhist followers in preserving Buddhism. He emphasized that the Vassa offerings not only continue the noble tradition of their ancestors but also contribute to the overall peace and happiness of the motherland. Furthermore, General Teav Ving unequivocally declared his strong commitment to defending the territorial integrity of Cambodia, stating that no enemy would be allowed to violate it. He added that the Cambodian government adheres to the principle of using the mechanisms of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and other international laws to peacefully resolve border disputes with neighboring countries, based on mutual respect for sovereignty.
