Vietnamese Top Legislator Mourns Lao NA President's Passing

Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue has expressed his profound sorrow over the passing of Comrade Xaysomphone Phomvihane, who served as the General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and President of the Lao National Assembly. Writing in the book of condolences, Chairman Hue described Phomvihane's death as a "great loss" to the Lao Party, State, National Assembly, and people. He further stated that it was also a loss for Vietnam, which had lost a "great friend and loyal comrade" who made significant contributions to strengthening and developing the "great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic cohesion" between the two countries. This event highlights the robust political and diplomatic ties shared between Vietnam and Laos. As socialist nations, the two countries have maintained close cooperation for many years, and the passing of a leader serves as an occasion to reaffirm their special bond through expressions of condolence. The Vietnamese government also announced a period of national mourning in response to Phomvihane's death, clearly demonstrating solidarity with Laos.
