Sour Bun Airport in Htantlang Township, Chin State, currently has a good runway, but its aviation security/communication equipment and airport buildings are damaged. U Myo Myint, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Construction, along with members of the Chin State Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Committee and members of the State, District, and Township Level Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Working Committees, visited the Htantlang municipal market and Sour Bun Airport on July 3, 2026. The Deputy Minister and his delegation inspected the shops operating and selling at the Htantlang Township Municipal Market and instructed the responsible officials to focus on maintaining cleanliness and beauty in and around the market, and to ensure the provision of healthy and hygienic food. Subsequently, the Deputy Minister and his delegation arrived at the designated location for returnees to report in Htantlang Township, inspected and encouraged the screening and acceptance status, and coordinated and resolved necessary matters with the responsible officials. After that, the Deputy Minister and his delegation proceeded to Sour Bun Airport on the Htantlang-Rih Road section. They inspected the condition of the Htantlang-Rih Road section and instructed that necessary repairs and maintenance be carried out to enable the public to travel smoothly on the roads and bridges damaged by terrorist incidents. They also instructed that efforts be made to prevent water accumulation on roads and bridges during the rainy season, and that responsible officials at all levels should proactively organize and plan to prevent road blockages due to landslides during the monsoon. Furthermore, the Deputy Minister and his delegation arrived at Sour Bun Airport in Htantlang Township. The airport is located at an altitude of 6,000 feet above sea level, and the runway is 6,000 feet long. Successful test landings were conducted with a BEECH aircraft on June 26, 2020, and with an ATR-72-600 aircraft on October 27, 2020. Currently, the surface of the 6,000-foot runway is in good condition, but the lights on the runway, aviation security equipment, aviation communication equipment, and aviation navigation equipment have been damaged by terrorist organizations. The airport building, air traffic control tower building, fire station building, and DVOR building are also partially damaged. It is understood that if Sour Bun Airport can be reopened, it will facilitate transportation for the development of Chin State and enable the rapid transport of necessary materials for reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts. Public hospitals have been opened in Tedim, Tonzang, and Htantlang townships in Chin State, and to date, 13,098 patients have been treated by 278 doctors and healthcare workers. In addition, 17,651 students are being educated by 1,234 teachers in 279 primary education schools.
