TNLA arrests a car thief

Mekong, July 4 A car thief was arrested in Nam San city, northern Shan State, according to a statement released last night by the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA). According to the TNLA, a man who stole a Hiace vehicle from a car workshop in Nam San city and resold it was arrested by the Ta'ang State District Police based on evidence. Around 4:30 PM on June 29, Aung Kyaw U, 29, stole a Hiace vehicle that was parked with its key in the "Buddha Car Workshop" in Nam San city and fled to Thibaw city. The statement said that the car owner reported the incident to the Ta'ang police, who then investigated the evidence and details of the incident to identify the perpetrator. According to the investigation, Aung Kyaw U sold the stolen Hiace vehicle to a car dealer in Thibaw city for 230 million kyats, and was arrested on June 30 while returning from Thibaw city to Nam San city on a motorcycle at a checkpoint, along with the cash from the car sale. "The car was not recovered. The thief sold it. The money from the car sale has been seized as evidence. After the investigation, the seized money will be handed over to the original car owner," said a source close to the Ta'ang police.
