Who is Atty. Reynaldo B. Robles, Private Prosecutor in Duterte's Impeachment Trial?

It is private prosecutor Atty. Reynaldo B. Robles’ turn to examine a witness in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, but who is he? Introduced in June as one of the private prosecutors of the House for Duterte’s impeachment, Robles has a storied law career. After gaining a bachelor’s degree in Business Management with a minor in Economics at the University of the Philippines in 1986, Robles graduated cum laude and class valedictorian at the Far Eastern University (FEU) in 1990, placing 10th in that year’s bar examinations. He would later be a founder and managing partner at the famed law firm Chan Robles and Associates from 1993 to the present. Robles also currently serves as the President and CEO of the ChanRobles Lawnet Inc. and Chan Robles Professional Review Inc. On top of his duties in the law firm, Robles is also a trustee and legal counsel of the Blas F. Ople Policy Center and Training Institute Inc. He has also been a professor of law at the FEU Institute of Law from 1991 to 1994, and then again in 2000 to 2002. He has served as a lawyer to multiple political personalities in the past, including former senator Sonny Trillanes. Robles was Trillanes’ lawyer when former president Rodrigo Duterte voided the amnesty granted to Trillanes for his mutiny attempts during former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s term. —VAL, GMA News
