Cambodia and Togo Hold First Bilateral Consultations to Strengthen Ties

AKP Phnom Penh, September 8, 2026 -- Cambodia and Togo held their First Bilateral Consultations between the two foreign ministries on Sept. 3-4, 2026 in Lomé, Togo, with H.E. Sman Manan, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, and H.E. Afognon Kouakou Sedaminou, Secretary General of Togo’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, African Integration, and Togolese Abroad, as co-chairs. According to a press release issued on Tuesday evening by the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during the consultations, both sides welcomed the positive momentum in bilateral relations and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in trade and investment, agriculture, tourism, air connectivity, and parliamentary affairs. The Cambodian delegation also held fruitful discussions with H.E. Badanam Patoki, Minister of Economy and Strategic Monitoring; H.E. Edem Kokou Tengue, Minister Delegate in charge of Maritime Economy and Director General of the Autonomous Port of Lomé; and Mr. Konlani Djondiègue, Chief of Cabinet of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Animal Resources, and Food Sovereignty. The Togolese side reaffirmed the participation of H.E. Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, President of the Council of Togo, in the 20th Francophonie Summit to be held in Phnom Penh. The Cambodian side encouraged Togo to also participate in the two main side events, namely FrancoTech, scheduled for Nov. 15-16, and the Francophonie Village, scheduled for Nov. 13-17, 2026. The consultations were convened pursuant to the Memorandum of Understanding on Bilateral Consultations signed by the Foreign Ministers of Cambodia and Togo on Mar. 19, 2025. By C. Nika
