Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao Promoted to Senior Lieutenant General

Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, has been promoted to the rank of Senior Lieutenant General by the President. On the afternoon of September 4, the Office of the President, in coordination with the Ministry of National Defense, organized a ceremony to announce and present the promotion decision to Senior Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao. The ceremony was presided over by General Secretary and President To Lam. Presenting the decision, General Secretary and President To Lam highly praised Senior Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao for his firm political mettle, scientific and practical working methods, and his capability in handling arising real-world issues. He stated that the promotion is a recognition by the Party, State, and people of Dao's dedication, efforts, and contributions to building the army, strengthening national defense, and protecting the Fatherland. The General Secretary and President urged Senior Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao, along with the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and the General Staff, to accelerate the roadmap for building a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern army, and to resolutely defend the country's independence, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. Senior Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao affirmed his commitment to continuously cultivate and train himself, uphold the responsibilities of an officer and Party member, and preserve the qualities of a "Uncle Ho Soldier" and the traditions of the Vietnam People's Army. Senior Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao is 55 years old and hails from Ninh Binh province. He served many years in the Lang Son provincial Border Guard force. Since 2001, he held various positions including combat assistant, deputy commander and head of the Huu Nghi International Border Gate, commander of the Huu Nghi International Border Gate Border Guard Post, and commander of the Tan Thanh Border Guard Post. From 2011 to 2019, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff, Chief of Staff, Deputy Commander, and then Commander of the Lang Son provincial Border Guard. In January 2020, he was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff of the Border Guard, later serving as Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Border Guard. In October 2021, he was transferred and appointed Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard. He has held the position of Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army since September 2025.
