Pham Nhat Vuong's Wife Acquires Additional Stake in LPBank

Pham Thu Huong, wife of prominent Vietnamese billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong and Vice Chairwoman of Vingroup, has acquired an additional 148.3 million shares in LPBank (formerly LienVietPostBank), equivalent to approximately 4.97% of the bank's capital. LPBank announced on July 27 that Ms. Huong is now a shareholder holding 4.96% of the bank's capital. Vingroup confirmed that this shareholder is the wife of billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, who currently serves as Vice Chairman of the conglomerate. Mr. Vuong himself has been acquiring LPB shares for personal investment purposes. Previously, on June 23, Mr. Vuong had already purchased 146.2 million LPB shares, representing 4.89%. According to data from Vietcap Securities, the richest man in Vietnam spent approximately 6.7 trillion VND (around $280 million USD at current rates) for these shares, at an average price of 46,000 VND per unit. As of the closing session on July 24, LPB shares were trading at 52,400 VND per unit, indicating that Mr. Vuong has potentially earned around 1 trillion VND (approximately $42 million USD) in profit within just over a month. Ms. Huong's newly acquired stake is valued at approximately 8 trillion VND (around $335 million USD). With these latest acquisitions, Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong and his wife now collectively own about 9.85% of LPBank's capital. Besides the Vuong family members, the other major shareholder in LPBank holding over 1% of the capital is the Vietnam Post Corporation (VNPost), with a 6.53% stake. Born in 1969, Ms. Pham Thu Huong holds a Master's degree in International Law from Ukraine. She directly holds over 341 million VIC shares, equivalent to about 4.4% of Vingroup's capital. She also serves as Chairwoman of Green SM, a ride-hailing service founded by Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong. According to Forbes, Ms. Huong's net worth stands at $3.7 billion USD as of today, and she was recognized as a billionaire by the publication in February of this year. LPBank, formerly known as LienVietPostBank, officially changed its name to LPBank in mid-July 2025. By the end of last year, the bank's total assets reached 605,585 billion VND, with a projected increase of 1.6% this year. Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuy, former Vice Chairman of Sacombank, served as Chairman of LPBank from 2022 to 2025.
