Myanmar-Belarus sign double taxation avoidance agreement, interim government anticipates investment inflow

With the aim of increasing the entry of Belarusian businesses into Myanmar, an agreement to avoid double taxation on income has been signed between Myanmar and Belarus, and the interim government is anticipating investment inflow, it has been learned. Through the signing of this agreement, a stable economic and tax system environment will be created for investors of both countries, and trade can be expanded, said Deputy Minister of Planning and Finance of the interim government, U Han Win. This agreement signing occurred during the one-day short visit to Myanmar by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko yesterday, July 2nd. During the visit, the Belarusian President met with the interim government's President Min Aung Hlaing. This meeting was the fifth meeting between the two, and they discussed further promoting bilateral relations. Currently, these two dictatorial countries, Myanmar and Belarus, which are facing international sanctions, are preparing to increase cooperation in the industrial sector, agricultural sector, pharmaceutical manufacturing sector, and humanitarian sector. According to data from the Ministry of Commerce and Trade under the interim government, Belarus is currently importing agricultural tractors, automobile spare parts, dairy products, meat products, and medicines into Myanmar, and Myanmar is also exporting some agricultural products back.
