Reports said the Toyota Avanza was traveling in Barangay Panadtalan when it developed mechanical trouble. The driver lost control of the wheel, causing the Avanza to swerve and collide with the approaching motorcycle before crashing into the coconut tree. The impact threw a man and his son off their motorcycle, killing them instantly. The driver of the Avanza was pinned between his seat and the wheel. He died at the scene. Two of the passengers of the Avanza were rushed to a hospital for treatment of injuries. This incident underscores the critical importance of road safety in the Philippines.
