Vietnam Seeks to Enhance Comprehensive Partnership with Canada, FTA Talks Progress

On July 28, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung received Canadian Ambassador James Nickel. Discussions focused on the shared goal of elevating the Comprehensive Partnership between Vietnam and Canada to new heights, aiming for deeper and more effective cooperation. Vietnam reiterated its consistent policy of valuing Canada as an important partner in its foreign affairs and expressed a strong desire to see the relationship grow even more robust and substantive. A key highlight of the discussions was the successful conclusion of the first chapter of negotiations within the framework of the ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
