Wanted criminals and undocumented individuals handed over from Thailand

Three wanted criminals from Thailand and six Thai nationals residing without documentation, who had fled to Tachileik city on the Myanmar-Thailand border, were handed over to Thailand on September 10, according to the Myanmar Police Force. It is reported that information exchange and cooperation were carried out to apprehend wanted criminals who had fled from both countries, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Control of Narcotic Drugs between Myanmar and Thailand. In the course of these operations, the three criminals wanted for drug offenses by Thailand were apprehended on July 11 and 17, and on September 10, the Myanmar Narcotics Suppression Police Force handed them over to the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) of Thailand at the No. 1 Friendship Bridge on the Tachileik-Thailand border. Furthermore, the six Thai nationals who had entered and resided in Tachileik city without documentation were issued deportation orders under the Immigration Law and handed over to the immigration inspector in Chiang Rai Province, Thailand. It is understood that by identifying, apprehending, and handing over criminals who had committed drug offenses and fled, as well as cross-border offenders, under the current bilateral drug control program, friendly relations between the two countries will be further strengthened, and drug control activities in the border region will be carried out more effectively.
