Online Scam Crackdown in Cambodia's Svay Rieng Province: 4 Suspects Detained, Equipment Seized

Authorities in Bavet City, Svay Rieng Province, Cambodia, have cracked down on suspected online scam operations, leading to the detention of four individuals and the confiscation of numerous related devices. The joint operation, led by Deputy Governor of Svay Rieng Province, Men Eng, representing Governor Peng Posa, and coordinated by Deputy Prosecutor Chan Vannak of the Provincial Court, conducted administrative inspections on three suspected online scam locations on September 13th. The operation involved Colonel Ly Chonny, Deputy Provincial Police Commissioner, the Bavet City Police Chief, and forces from the Bavet City Administrative Command. As a result, the team detained four suspects and seized various items. These included one vehicle, electronic equipment such as one monitor, two CPU towers, one laptop, five iPads, thirty mobile phones, six personal mobile phones, one CCTV dongle, and ten voice recorders. Additionally, eighteen passports were confiscated, comprising sixteen Japanese passports (one female) and two Chinese passports (male). The four suspects detained consist of two Chinese nationals and two Cambodian nationals. The confiscated equipment and some cash have been transferred to the Technology Crime Suppression Office for further legal proceedings.
