Cambodia Hosts Cultural Heritage Preservation and Educational Promotion Event in Kampong Chhnang Province

The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, in collaboration with the Kampong Chhnang Provincial Administration, inaugurated the second temporary exhibition on July 30, 2026, at the Dr. Ouk Rabun Academy Garden in Kampong Chhnang Province. Mr. Roeun Vuthy, Deputy Director-General of Heritage of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, presided over the ceremony, which was attended by Mr. Chim Vutha, Deputy Governor of Kampong Chhnang Province, Mr. Pov Bunthon, member of the Kampong Chhnang Provincial Council, delegates from the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, provincial administration leaders, civil servants, students, and many citizens. During the event, Mr. Vuthy praised the official opening of the Kampong Chhnang Provincial Museum, noting its role in preserving numerous ancient artifacts recovered from various excavation and research sites. He also highlighted the exhibition of glass negative photographs from the temporary exhibition, featuring paintings from the early 20th century. These paintings, once believed to be lost forever, have been rediscovered. Through rare photographs, palm-leaf manuscripts, and interactive experiences, visitors can gain a deeper understanding of cultural significance, Jataka tales, and the stories behind their loss and subsequent rediscovery, such as the murals in Wat Preah Keo Morakot (Temple of the Emerald Buddha). Furthermore, he encouraged teachers and students from the province and across the country to participate in the exhibition of student achievements, providing them with life skills and valuable experience for their future careers. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, the government has launched the "Pentagonal Strategy," which aims to strengthen good governance in schools at all levels, enhance learning and teaching for students, provide nutritional support to needy students, and improve the quality and increase human resources for national development. Mr. Vuthy urged the Department of Culture, the Provincial Administration, and teachers to dedicate their efforts to imparting knowledge to students. Modern curriculum-based learning is crucial for their bright future. He also requested parents to cooperate with teachers by monitoring their children's daily studies and taking appropriate measures if they are truant, guiding them to become good students, obedient children, and good citizens who will contribute to building the nation in the future, through participation in and study of the temporary exhibition.
