True Corporation, in collaboration with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), is enhancing the resilience of Thailand's telecommunications infrastructure, focusing on disaster preparedness. The initiative, spearheaded in Hat Yai, Songkhla province, aims to ensure continuous service delivery from mobile base stations and communication networks during emergencies or natural disasters. Drawing lessons from significant past events, including major floods that affected the region last year, True and NBTC are developing strategies to maintain network functionality even under crisis conditions. The plans formulated from these studies are intended for application not only in Hat Yai but also in other flood-prone provinces such as Nan, Chiang Rai, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, and Ayutthaya. Nariphon Rattanasaamahan, Head of Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs at True Corporation, along with Sutthisak Tantayothin, Deputy Secretary-General of NBTC for Telecommunications Affairs, conducted a site visit to assess the readiness of the communication network. The enhancement plan encompasses upgrading base station preparedness in disaster-risk areas, reinforcing backup power systems, implementing flood impact mitigation measures, securing redundant network pathways, and ensuring the availability of personnel and equipment for rapid 24-hour deployment. Furthermore, True Corporation is participating in the 2024 National Crisis Management Exercise, organized by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM).
