Union Minister U Myo Thant of the Ministry of Construction stated that landowners of agricultural land that has not yet received compensation, among the farmlands confiscated for the development of new town plots in Dagon Township (North), can submit applications. This was in response to a star question from U Tint Wai, a People's Hluttaw representative for the Dagon Township (North) constituency, during the 25th day of the second regular session of the third Pyidaungsu Hluttaw held on July 17. As a star question, U Tint Wai, the People's Hluttaw representative for the Dagon Township (North) constituency, asked whether there are plans to provide alternative land plots or compensation for the farmlands confiscated from four villages in the development of new town plots in Dagon Township (North). In response to the question, Union Minister U Myo Thant of the Ministry of Construction replied that the relevant ministries related to the confiscated farmlands are requesting funds and compensation is being paid annually. He added that if compensation has not yet been received, applications can be submitted to the Yangon Region Committee for Review of Confiscation of Agricultural Land and Other Lands. It is said that four villages, including Tou Chaung Gyi and Tou Chaung Kalay villages in Dagon Township (North), were implemented as the Dagon New Town Project in 1989-1990. According to the statement of Union Minister U Myo Thant of the Ministry of Construction, alternative land plots have been provided for the confiscated farmlands from these villages in Dagon Township (North), Dagon Township (East), and Dagon Township (South) since that period.
