Currently, vehicles can be driven as usual without distinction between even and odd days. However, for the country's energy security, the fuel distribution and sales system will continue to be purchased in accordance with the even/odd day QR code specifications currently implemented by the Ministry of Electricity and Energy, according to a notification and announcement issued to the public by the State Administration Council Information Team on September 9. Due to global political situations, particularly military conflicts in the Middle East, vehicles with even-numbered plates on even days and vehicles with odd-numbered plates on odd days were restricted in their driving and usage in accordance with specifications to conserve fuel and ensure sufficiency. This system was implemented starting from March 7, 2026. Although this system has saved energy, we understand the difficulties faced by the public in their travel, and we are grateful for the cooperation of the public, said Dr. Khine Khine Soe. The announcement states that fuel consumption has now reached a stable level, and to facilitate public transportation and ensure the smooth operation of economic activities, the system of driving and using vehicles based on even/odd days has been abolished as of September 9.
