Cambodia Launches English Proficiency Program for Secondary STEM Teachers

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of Cambodia has announced the selection of professional development service providers for English language skills enhancement, targeting secondary school science and English teachers. This initiative is supported by the Secondary Education for Human Capital Competitiveness (SE4HC) project. According to the ministry, the project will provide professional development in English to 638 secondary school science and English teachers (25% women) through a voucher system. The program will be implemented by educational institutions accredited by the ministry. Organizations with the necessary capacity, experience, and resources are invited to apply as service providers. The program focuses on promoting STEM education, aiming to equip teachers with enhanced English proficiency as a tool to better utilize STEM knowledge and resources and apply them in practical teaching scenarios. Specifically, it aims to strengthen English skills to the CEFR B2 level to support the teaching and learning of science and English for STEM education. It also includes enhancing teachers' abilities to research, evaluate, and utilize quality STEM educational resources from national and international sources for daily instruction, as well as strengthening their capacity to use digital technology and artificial intelligence to support hybrid and asynchronous STEM and English teaching and learning. Applications will be accepted at the Continuous Professional Development Management Office (CPDMO) until October 5, 2026.
